Lesson Plans

TryAI aims to provide three simple lesson plans for teachers.

All content is aimed at students aged 14-16.

Introduction - What is machine learning?

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • What is machine learning?

  • Identify examples of machine learning in our everyday lives?

  • Learn the three steps to building a machine learning model - input data, model and prediction

Lesson 2

"Shark Attack" - Building an image classification model

  • Students build machine learning image classification models using Google's teachable machines

  • Learn the importance of "good" input data

  • Identify what a good and bad machine learning model looks like

Impact Machine Learning - Building models for Social Good

  • Identify examples of machine learning for social good

  • Discuss examples of "good" and "bad" applications of machine learning

  • Students invent their own machine learning models with positive impact

"Spot the Shark" - Building an image classification model

  • Students build an image classification model using Google's teachable machines to identify images of sharks and dolphins

  • Learn training and test data

  • Identify what a good and bad machine learning model looks like

Impact Machine Learning - Building models for Social Good

  • See real world examples of machine learning applications in saving animals.

  • Work in groups to invent their own ideas for machine learning models for social good

  • Groups get to present ideas to the wider class
